Cardz TV Challenge #16 & Other New Challenges

It's been a long time......but I wanted to join the fun at CARDZTV Challenge #16 with Boos and Buttons! Also, I have some new to me blogs I'm posting my card to as well. I recently got the Create a Critter 2 cartridge and made several of the Halloween critters and words! It was fun and I decided to use one for the new challenge. I had some Halloween paper from last year and used those for the card, some black dotted Washi tape and little black buttons I had in my stash. I like how it turned out! Hope you do as well!! Below are a couple of pictures of the front and one of the inside:

Heard about a Christian radio station talking about forever.....asking listeners to describe how long that was for them. Some said for 1/2 hour kids have to wait after eating to go swimming or waiting for job offer after a great interview....then a mother called in, she said waiting for blood test results for her child that has stage 4 cancer to know if the chemo is working. Talk about a tear jerker!! The radio host was talking to her and all of a sudden he started to pray...for God's healing, His grace for the waiting and thanking Him that He was bigger than cancer.....needless to say even typing this makes the tears flow. And I thought I had problems...financial, sciatica and a number of household repairs...nothing really compared to what this dear woman is going through. Since I heard this, I have had a prayer in my heart for God to heal her 23 year old son, to help them financially, to relieve his pain through the chemo treatments and to supply their needs as they make this journey. And humbly for me to be thankful for His goodness and mercy in my life. Please pray for this family! Rebecca

The first day of a new month!!! Only 20 more days until my daughter turns 33.....hard to believe! Seems like only a couple of months ago I was bringing her home from the hospital. My how time flies!!! I'm hoping to get back to creating more this month, have a couple of projects I want to do and post. Just have a few things to work out how to put it all together. Maybe I'll be able to be involved with some more challenges this month...that always feels fun and exciting to actually post something for others to see. I still feel so 'green' from an experience level and it actually scares me to post my cards. There are so many talented and wonderful crafters out there....I just feel so inferior with what I come up with, but I'm getting bolder!! Maybe some day I can actually be on a design team....that would be the ultimate!!! Wish I had more inspiration, watching other's videos I just am amazed at what they do....makes it all look so simple!!! Oh well.

Si's Retirement Card

This week we will be saying "sail on" to our good friend and coworker as he is retiring. He is THE nicest man, a TRUE Southern Gentleman!! He will be greatly missed by so many! Tomorrow night our department will be having a cookout at a nice Country Club in the area to send him off....so to speak. He has a sail boat and one of the things he has planned to do is get on his boat with his wife, Kathleen, and sail up and down the Eastern Coast. WOW! Exciting! I made him a card using a sail boat, but I also incorporated all the major NC college colors in the card as well....Si is a college sports follower. The sun is Gold and Black for Wake Forest; the sentiment is Red and White for NC State; the boat is Dark Blue for Duke and the water is Carolina Blue for UNC-Chapel Hill! I think he will get a kick out of it, plus the boat is patriotic Blue boat, White Sails and Red flag! He is such a wonderful person, he will sorely be missed!!! Happy Retirement, Si!! God Bless! Here is a picture of the card: The sail boat is from Life's a Beach Cricut Cartridge. The clouds are from Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge. The sun is a 1 inch circle punch, the 'rays' are lines drawn with a gel pen and the sweet face is from Peachy Keen stamps. The string is the friendship string from WalMart. The wavy water made with a Fiskars punch. The sentiment is printed from the computer and attached to a red piece of cardstock scrap. The S K on the boat is for Si and Kathleen!

Happy Memorial Day!

This streamline stuff is for the birds!! Speaking of birds......a friend gave me a hummingbird feeder for my birthday last fall! I love hummingbirds!!! Over the weekend I saw at least one hummingbird and today there were TWO!!! Such joy and peace watching them!! I look forward to seeing them every day now!!! Put out fresh nectar tonight, hope it doesn't rain tomorrow evening so I can sit on the deck and watch their goings and comings!! I hope there is a nest and more will show up before too long. Haven't been too motivated lately for cards.....can't seem to get my creativity working!!!! Don't know what is wrong with me. Guess there has been too much other stuff crowding my mind these days!!! Have roof damage and need to get a new roof! UGH!!! Just hate dealing with this stuff alone.....such is my life! Oh well! Good night all...hoping to be able to get back on tract soon!

Half way through the week!! YAY!!!! Tonight my daughter and I went through our paper pads and loose 12 X 12 papers and picked out a BUNCH of pages to donate to a local church that has started a 'craft room' for their children's ministry. WOW! We made a huge dent in our stash...but are still so blessed with our supply! We tried to think of all the seasons, holidays and just fun pages of big circles! I hope they can use them, I'm taking to a co-worker tomorrow and surprise her with all the pages! It felt good to share and feel like we are encouraging a local ministry to keep up the good work! Lots of the children are from broken homes or have damaged relationships, so being creative and using their imagination hopefully will brighten their days! Have a good rest of the week, and God Bless! Rebecca
