I Won!!!

I am so excited!  I just saw on Cardztv.blogspot.com that I had won the challenge for the Birthday card which ended yesterday. I am so happy I had the lucky number from random.org!  I love Mary's stamps and can't wait to see which set she sends.  I don't usually win things so this is the highlight of my week!   The cards I entered are posted on February 17th if you want to scroll down to see them.

It is hard to believe March is nearly here, this year is going by quickly!  So thankful for a nice weather wise weekend coming up!  Spring is just around the corner!  God bless you and keep you in his hand full of love, grace and mercy!

Lasting Hearts

Found a really wonderful blog a couple of months ago and was inspired to make cards for the Lasting Hearts campaign.  You can find more information about it on Jennifer McGuire's blog (www.jennifermcguireink.com) and search for Lasting Hearts.  A woman employed with the Hero Arts company had a miscarriage with her twins, she was devastated.  A friend shared a book, "You are the Mother of all Mothers", which meant so much to her.  She asked her OBGYN if she could supply these books would they give them to mothers that has suffered a miscarriage.  The doctor agreed so she went out seeking funding for this wonderful project. Hero Arts and other online scrapbooking stores are donating percentages of profits for certain items.  You can find more about that on the blog as well. Jennifer had the idea for card makers to make cards of encouragement for these women to be placed in the books so as they are given out there will be a personal touch as well.  I felt so compelled to do this as I had lost my first baby by a miscarriage.  I still wonder about that child and what would life be like if that child had been born and lived a full life.  I set myself a goal and mailed the cards off last week.  I thought I would post pictures of the cards I made.  I would ask that you pray for this venture and the women that receive the books that they will find comfort and peace in the midst of their sorrow.

Jennifer asked that the inside only be a sentence of prayers or encouragement and then put your first name and where you were from.  Just enough to show your support for their situation.  I pray God will use the books and cards to bring peace and comfort to these grieving souls and give a ray of hope for the future.

BIG Happy Birthday die

In my "surfing" craft stores on the web...found this cool (but large) Happy Birthday die!  I didn't really realize how big the thing was until it arrived!!  I was determined to use it and so I set out to do just that!  I had some foil paper that I bought from Amazon that I cut out and then stuck it to the cardstock cut out and I loved how it came out!  I used a small stack of papers to pick out this one with butterflies!  I love butterflies!  Got it put together with butterfly punches for accents using the foiled paper and it ended up better than I had hoped!  Loved it!
God Bless!!  Have a wonderful day!!

Pink Birthday Card

I got some new heart dies from Simonsaysstamp.com, actually got several new dies.  I wanted a simple Birthday card so I used some soft pink and white stipe paper with little pink hearts and placed the cut outs to be staggered on the left side.  Ran it through my Sizzix big shot and put some silver paper behind it and small silver hearts and tiny bead embellishments to complete it. Topped it off with an Elizabeth Crafts silver Happy Birthday sticker!  A white card with pink layer then the striped paper layer!

Turned out sweet!! Love those heart dies!!  God Bless!

Happy Birthday card #1

CardzTV has a challenge for birthday cards!  I've been busy making cards for Lasting Hearts...this is for a project I learned about from Jennifer McGuire's blog.  She suggested card makers make and send cards to go inside the book "You are the Mother of all Mothers' which will be given to women that have had a recent miscarriage.  The lady that began this project works for Hero Arts and lost a set of twins.  Someone shared that book with her and it touched her so much she found a way to raise funds to buy these books for her doctor's office to distribute.  Hero Arts is giving a portion of profits from one of their retired stamp/die cut set called "Prayers".  If you are interested, you can find this being sold at www.simonsaysstamp.com.  Hopefully this venture for moms that miscarry will spread to other parts of the country.  I lost my first child, so this was such a wonderful way for me to reach out in a small way to these hurting, sorrowful women.
Back to other cards....for now, birthday!!  The first one is a manly card.  I loved the sentiment and made it with one of the guys I worked with in mind!  He is hitting a big "0"  birthday, so it is a fun kind of card!

Found this crazy stamp, cut it out.  Used a pre-printed card and scrap of the Happy Birthday to You paper, a red gingham ribbon and there you go!!  Fun, Fun, Fun!!
Have a blessed day!

Valentine's Day.....

Well it is a few days passed the actual day...but wanted to post pictures of the card and bag I made for my daughter's Valentine's goodies.  I had some miniature Reeses, small box of candy hearts, a little sock Monkey stuffed animal and the "biggie" was a silver necklace with a pendent outlined in the shape of a bottle with crystals on the top for the cap, "inside" the bottle was a pink heart Swarovski crystal.  She loved it all!  Now for the pictures:

Of course the sentiment was  "Owl always love you!"  So cute!!  She's 36 years old, but some traditions never grow old!!  BTW..I GOT RED VELVET donuts from her!!  YUM!  Haven't tried them yet, but they look good!  Hope your Valentine's Day was happy!!
